Active & Passive Voice

English Grammar in Hindi

Zero Level से Basic to Advanced Complete Guide

Voice

1. Voice क्या है?

English Grammar में Voice का संबंध sentence में होने वाले action और उसके subject से होता है। Voice हमें यह समझने में मदद करता है कि काम कौन कर रहा है और काम किस पर हो रहा है।

📖 Simple Definition

Voice is the form of a verb which shows whether the subject does an action or receives an action.

हिंदी में: Verb का वह रूप जिससे यह पता चलता है कि Subject स्वयं कार्य करता है या Subject पर कार्य किया जाता है, उसे Voice कहते हैं।

बिल्कुल आसान भाषा में समझें

मान लीजिए दो sentences हैं:

Ram writes a letter.

राम एक पत्र लिखता है।

यहाँ Ram काम कर रहा है। Ram ही letter लिख रहा है। इसलिए यहाँ focus उस व्यक्ति पर है जो काम कर रहा है।

अब दूसरा sentence देखिए:

A letter is written by Ram.

राम द्वारा एक पत्र लिखा जाता है।

यहाँ हमारा ध्यान A letter पर है। Letter पर writing का action हो रहा है।

💡 यही Active और Passive Voice की सबसे basic सोच है:

Active → कौन काम कर रहा है?

Passive → किस पर काम हो रहा है?

2. Voice के कितने प्रकार हैं?

English Grammar में Voice के मुख्यतः दो प्रकार होते हैं।

🔵 Active Voice

जब Subject स्वयं action करता है, तो sentence Active Voice में होता है।

Ram writes a letter.

🔴 Passive Voice

जब Subject पर action किया जाता है, तो sentence Passive Voice में होता है।

A letter is written by Ram.

3. Active Voice – Basic Introduction

Active Voice में sentence का Subject action करता है। इसलिए Active Voice में सामान्यतः हमारा ध्यान doer यानी काम करने वाले पर रहता है।

Active Voice: जब Subject स्वयं कार्य करता है, तो sentence Active Voice कहलाता है।

Example 1

Rahul plays cricket.

राहुल क्रिकेट खेलता है।

यहाँ:

  • Rahul = काम करने वाला
  • plays = action
  • cricket = जिस पर action हो रहा है

इसलिए यह Active Voice है।

Example 2

She reads a book.

वह एक किताब पढ़ती है।

यहाँ She खुद पढ़ने का action कर रही है। इसलिए यह Active Voice है।

4. Passive Voice – Basic Introduction

Passive Voice में focus उस व्यक्ति या वस्तु पर होता है जिस पर action किया गया है।

Passive Voice: जब sentence में Subject पर action किया जाता है, तो sentence Passive Voice कहलाता है।

Example 1

Cricket is played by Rahul.

राहुल द्वारा क्रिकेट खेला जाता है।

यहाँ sentence की शुरुआत Cricket से हुई है। Cricket पर खेलने का action हो रहा है। इसलिए यह Passive Voice है।

Example 2

A book is read by her.

उसके द्वारा एक किताब पढ़ी जाती है।

5. Subject + Verb + Object क्या है?

Active और Passive Voice समझने से पहले Subject, Verb और Object को समझना बहुत जरूरी है।

Subject क्या है?

जो व्यक्ति या वस्तु sentence में action करती है, उसे सामान्यतः Subject कहते हैं।

Ram writes a letter.

यहाँ Ram = Subject

Verb क्या है?

Verb वह word है जो action या state को बताता है।

Ram writes a letter.

यहाँ writes = Verb

Object क्या है?

जिस व्यक्ति या वस्तु पर action किया जाता है, वह सामान्यतः Object होता है।

Ram writes a letter.

यहाँ a letter = Object

Basic Sentence Structure

Subject + Verb + Object

उदाहरण:

Ram + writes + a letter

याद रखने की आसान Trick:

Subject = कौन?

Verb = क्या करता है?

Object = किसे / किस चीज़ को?

6. Subject, Verb और Object पहचानने की आसान Trick

किसी भी simple sentence को देखकर पहले तीन सवाल पूछिए।

Question 1 – कौन?

जो action कर रहा है, उसे खोजिए। वह Subject होगा।

Question 2 – क्या कर रहा है?

Action बताने वाला word Verb होगा।

Question 3 – किसे / क्या?

जिस पर action हो रहा है, वह Object हो सकता है।

Example

Ravi eats mangoes.

कौन? → Ravi → Subject

क्या करता है? → eats → Verb

क्या खाता है? → mangoes → Object

7. Active और Passive का Basic Difference

Active Voice Passive Voice
Subject action करता है। Subject पर action होता है।
Focus doer पर होता है। Focus receiver पर होता है।
Ram writes a letter. A letter is written by Ram.
She cleans the room. The room is cleaned by her.

8. Active से Passive की शुरुआत

अभी हम detailed conversion rules नहीं पढ़ेंगे। वह अगले Parts में step-by-step समझेंगे। लेकिन basic idea अभी से समझ लेना जरूरी है।

Active: Ram writes a letter.

इस sentence में:

Subject = Ram

Verb = writes

Object = a letter

Passive: A letter is written by Ram.

ध्यान दीजिए कि Active का Object “a letter” Passive sentence की शुरुआत में आ गया।

📌 आगे हम सीखेंगे कि Object को आगे लाने के बाद कौन-सी Helping Verb लगती है और Verb को V3 में कैसे बदला जाता है।

9. अभी तक का Foundation Chart

Concept Basic Meaning
Voice Action का Subject से संबंध
Active Voice Subject action करता है
Passive Voice Subject पर action होता है
Subject Action करने वाला
Verb Action / State बताने वाला word
Object जिस पर action होता है

⚠️ Important Note

Active और Passive Voice सीखते समय सबसे पहले Subject, Verb और Object की पहचान मजबूत करें।

अगर S + V + O की पहचान अच्छी हो गई, तो आगे Active से Passive conversion को समझना बहुत आसान हो जाएगा।

Active & Passive Voice in English Grammar in Hindi | Part 1 | GKBYISHAK

Active Voice – Part 2

Active Voice in English Grammar in Hindi

Zero Level से Basic तक Complete Guide

1. Active Voice की Definition

Active Voice वह Voice है जिसमें Sentence का Subject स्वयं action करता है।

English Definition:
In Active Voice, the subject performs the action.

Rahul plays cricket.

राहुल क्रिकेट खेलता है।

इस sentence में Rahul action कर रहा है। इसलिए यह Active Voice है।

2. Active Voice की पहचान कैसे करें?

Active Voice पहचानने के लिए सबसे पहले यह देखें कि action कौन कर रहा है?

💡 अगर Subject स्वयं action कर रहा है, तो sentence Active Voice में है।

Example

Ravi eats an apple.

कौन खा रहा है? → Ravi

इसलिए Ravi = Subject और sentence Active Voice है।

3. Active Voice का Basic Structure

Subject + Verb + Object

यह Active Voice का सबसे basic structure है।

Riya + reads + a book.

Subject + Verb + Object

4. Subject + Verb + Object को समझें

Subject

जो action करता है, वह सामान्यतः Subject होता है।

Verb

जो action या state बताता है, वह Verb होता है।

Object

जिस पर action किया जाता है, वह Object हो सकता है।

Mohit opened the door.

Subject = Mohit

Verb = opened

Object = the door

5. Positive Active Sentences

Positive sentence में कोई negative word जैसे not नहीं होता।

Subject + Verb + Object

She sings a song.

Ram reads a newspaper.

They play football.

I write a letter.

6. Negative Active Sentences

Negative sentence में किसी action के न होने का अर्थ दिया जाता है। इसके लिए सामान्यतः not का प्रयोग किया जाता है।

Ram does not play cricket.

राम क्रिकेट नहीं खेलता है।

She did not open the door.

उसने दरवाजा नहीं खोला।

7. Active Voice – Interrogative Sentences

जिस sentence में question पूछा जाता है, उसे Interrogative Sentence कहते हैं।

Does Rahul play cricket?

Did she write a letter?

Do they watch television?

📌 Questions को Passive में बदलने के rules हम आगे के Parts में detail में पढ़ेंगे।

Passive Voice – Part 3

Passive Voice in English Grammar in Hindi

Zero Level से Basic तक Complete Guide

1. Passive Voice की Definition

Passive Voice वह Voice है जिसमें sentence का Subject स्वयं action नहीं करता बल्कि Subject पर action किया जाता है।

English Definition:
In Passive Voice, the subject receives the action.

हिंदी:
Passive Voice में Subject कार्य नहीं करता बल्कि Subject पर कार्य किया जाता है।

2. Passive Voice को बिल्कुल आसान भाषा में समझें

Passive Voice समझने का सबसे आसान तरीका है कि sentence में यह देखें:

किस पर काम हो रहा है?

उदाहरण:

Active: Ram writes a letter.

राम एक पत्र लिखता है।

Passive: A letter is written by Ram.

राम द्वारा एक पत्र लिखा जाता है।

Active sentence में Ram काम कर रहा है। लेकिन Passive sentence में focus a letter पर है।

💡 याद रखें:

Active: कौन काम कर रहा है?

Passive: किस पर काम हो रहा है?

3. Passive Voice की पहचान कैसे करें?

Passive Voice पहचानने के लिए कुछ basic संकेतों को समझना जरूरी है।

पहचान 1 – Subject पर Action

अगर sentence में Subject स्वयं action करने के बजाय action receive कर रहा है, तो sentence Passive हो सकता है।

The door is opened by Ram.

दरवाजा राम द्वारा खोला जाता है।

यहाँ door खुद दरवाजा खोलने का काम नहीं कर रहा। दरवाजे पर opening का action हो रहा है।

पहचान 2 – Be + V3

Passive Voice में बहुत बार be form + V3 दिखाई देता है।

जैसे:

is + V3
was + V3
will be + V3

लेकिन केवल be + V3 देखकर हर sentence को Passive मानना सही नहीं है। पूरे sentence का meaning और structure भी देखना चाहिए।

4. Passive Voice का Basic Structure

Passive Voice का सबसे basic structure है:

Object + Helping Verb + V3 + by + Subject

उदाहरण:

Ram writes a letter.

Object = a letter

A letter is written by Ram.

यहाँ:

  • A letter = नया Subject
  • is = Helping Verb
  • written = V3
  • by Ram = Agent / Doer

5. Passive Voice में V3 का महत्व

Passive Voice का सबसे महत्वपूर्ण rule है कि Main Verb सामान्यतः V3 form में आती है।

Passive Voice Golden Rule:

Main Verb = V3

कुछ Important Verb Forms

V1 V2 V3
write wrote written
eat ate eaten
do did done
take took taken
give gave given
see saw seen
make made made
break broke broken
open opened opened
clean cleaned cleaned

6. Helping Verb का महत्व

Passive Voice में केवल V3 लगाना पर्याप्त नहीं है। Tense के अनुसार सही Helping Verb लगाना भी जरूरी है।

Tense / Structure Passive Helping Verb
Present Simple is / am / are
Present Continuous is / am / are + being
Present Perfect has / have + been
Past Simple was / were
Past Continuous was / were + being
Past Perfect had + been
Future Simple will + be
Modal Modal + be

इन सभी rules को हम आने वाले Parts में एक-एक करके विस्तार से पढ़ेंगे।

7. Active से Passive का Basic Conversion

अब एक sentence को step-by-step Passive में बदलते हैं।

Example

Active: Ravi writes a letter.

Step 1 – Subject पहचानें

Ravi = Subject

Step 2 – Verb पहचानें

writes = Verb

Step 3 – Object पहचानें

a letter = Object

Step 4 – Object को आगे लाएँ

A letter + ...

Step 5 – Tense पहचानें

“writes” = Present Simple

Step 6 – Helping Verb लगाएँ

A letter + is

Step 7 – Verb को V3 में बदलें

write → written

Step 8 – Agent लगाएँ

by Ravi

A letter is written by Ravi.

🎯 यही Active से Passive conversion की basic सोच है। आगे के Parts में हम हर Tense के लिए अलग-अलग formulas सीखेंगे।

8. By + Subject का प्रयोग

Passive Voice में action करने वाले व्यक्ति को बताने के लिए आमतौर पर by का प्रयोग किया जाता है।

Ram writes a letter.

A letter is written by Ram.

लेकिन by हमेशा जरूरी नहीं है

यदि action करने वाला व्यक्ति unknown या unimportant हो, तो उसे Passive sentence से हटाया जा सकता है।

Someone stole my bag.

My bag was stolen.

यहाँ “someone” कौन था, यह महत्वपूर्ण नहीं है। इसलिए by someone हटाया जा सकता है।

9. Passive Voice में Pronoun Changes

जब Active sentence का Subject Passive में by के बाद आता है, तो Subject Pronoun की जगह Object Pronoun आता है।

Active Subject Passive में by के बाद
I me
We us
You you
He him
She her
It it
They them

Example

She writes a letter.

A letter is written by her.

यहाँ She → her हो गया।

Active → Passive Conversion

Part 4 – Complete Basic Rules

Object • Helping Verb • V3 • Pronoun • By + Agent

Zero Level → Basic → Advanced

1. Active → Passive का Basic Rule

Active:
Subject + Verb + Object

Passive:
Object + Helping Verb + V3 + by + Subject

Active: Ram writes a letter.

Passive: A letter is written by Ram.

⭐ सबसे पहले यह याद करें:

Active का Object → Passive का Subject

2. Step 1 – Subject पहचानें

सबसे पहले यह पता करें कि action कौन कर रहा है।

Ram writes a letter.

यहाँ Ram = Subject

Subject को पहचानने के लिए प्रश्न पूछें:

Who performs the action?

जो उत्तर मिले, वह सामान्यतः Subject होगा।

3. Step 2 – Verb पहचानें

अब देखें कि Subject क्या action कर रहा है।

Ram writes a letter.

writes = Verb

4. Step 3 – Object पहचानें

अब पता करें कि action किस पर हो रहा है।

Ram writes a letter.

a letter = Object

💡 Passive Voice बनाते समय Object की पहचान सबसे महत्वपूर्ण steps में से एक है।

5. Step 4 – Object को Subject बनाएं

Active sentence के Object को Passive sentence की शुरुआत में लाएँ।

Active:
Ram writes a letter.

Passive:
A letter ...

6. Step 5 – Tense पहचानें

Passive बनाने से पहले Active sentence का Tense पहचानना जरूरी है। क्योंकि Passive की Helping Verb Tense के अनुसार बदलती है।

Active Tense Passive Pattern
Present Simple is / am / are + V3
Past Simple was / were + V3
Future Simple will be + V3
Present Continuous is / am / are + being + V3
Past Continuous was / were + being + V3
Present Perfect has / have + been + V3
Past Perfect had + been + V3

इन सभी Tenses के complete conversion rules आगे के Parts में अलग-अलग विस्तार से पढ़ेंगे।

7. Step 6 – सही Helping Verb लगाएँ

Object को Subject बनाने के बाद Tense के अनुसार Helping Verb लगाएँ।

Ram writes a letter.

Present Simple → is

A letter is ...

Subject के अनुसार

New Subject Helping Verb
Singular is / was
Plural are / were
I am

8. Step 7 – Main Verb को V3 में बदलें

Passive Voice में Main Verb की V3 form का प्रयोग किया जाता है।

V1 V2 V3
write wrote written
eat ate eaten
take took taken
give gave given
do did done
see saw seen
make made made
open opened opened
clean cleaned cleaned
break broke broken
Helping Verb + V3

9. Step 8 – by + Agent का प्रयोग

Active sentence का Subject Passive में सामान्यतः by + Object Form के रूप में आता है।

Active:
Ram writes a letter.

Passive:
A letter is written by Ram.

Simple Present Tense

Active & Passive Voice – Part 5

Present Indefinite Tense • Active → Passive

Zero Level → Basic → Advanced

1. Simple Present Tense क्या है?

Simple Present Tense का प्रयोग ऐसे कार्यों के लिए किया जाता है जो सामान्य रूप से होते हैं, बार-बार होते हैं या किसी आदत को बताते हैं।

Ram writes a letter.

राम एक पत्र लिखता है।

यहाँ writes Simple Present Tense में है।

कुछ सामान्य प्रयोग

  • Daily habits – दैनिक आदतें
  • Regular actions – नियमित कार्य
  • General truths – सामान्य सत्य
  • Universal truths – सार्वभौमिक सत्य
  • Repeated actions – बार-बार होने वाले कार्य

The sun rises in the east.

सूर्य पूर्व में उगता है।

2. Simple Present Tense की पहचान

हिंदी में Simple Present के वाक्यों में अक्सर निम्न शब्द दिखाई देते हैं:

ता है • ती है • ते हैं • ता हूँ • ती हूँ

उदाहरण:

  • राम स्कूल जाता है।
  • सीमा खाना बनाती है।
  • वे क्रिकेट खेलते हैं।
  • मैं रोज पढ़ता हूँ।

English में इनके verbs सामान्यतः V1 form में होते हैं। लेकिन He, She, It तथा Singular Subject के साथ V1 में सामान्यतः s / es जुड़ता है।

3. Simple Present – Active Voice Structure

Subject + V1 / V1+s/es + Object

Ram writes a letter.

Subject = Ram
Verb = writes
Object = a letter

4. Simple Present – Passive Voice Structure

Object + is / am / are + V3 + by + Subject

Active: Ram writes a letter.

Passive: A letter is written by Ram.

5. Simple Present Passive का Main Formula

OBJECT
+
IS / AM / ARE
+
V3
+
BY + SUBJECT

Golden Rule: Simple Present Passive में Main Verb हमेशा V3 में आती है।

6. is / am / are का प्रयोग

Subject Helping Verb
Singular Noun is
He is
She is
It is
I am
Plural Noun are

You are
They are

7. Step-by-Step Active → Passive Conversion

Example:

Step 1 – Subject

Riya = Subject

Step 2 – Verb

Step 3 – Object

a letter = Object

Step 4 – Object को आगे लाएँ

A letter ...

writes = Simple Present

Step 6 – Helping Verb

A letter is ...

Step 7 – Verb को V3 करें

write → written

Step 8 – by + Subject

by Riya

Passive:

Object + is/am/are + V3 + by + Subject

Simple Past Tense

Active & Passive Voice – Part 6

Past Indefinite Tense • Active → Passive

Zero Level → Basic → Advanced

Part 6 में हम Simple Past Tense (Past Indefinite) के Active और Passive Voice को बिल्कुल Zero Level से सीखेंगे।

Simple Past Tense का प्रयोग ऐसे कार्यों के लिए किया जाता है जो अतीत में शुरू होकर समाप्त हो चुके हैं।

इस Part में हम सीखेंगे कि Simple Past के Active Sentence को Passive Sentence में कैसे बदला जाता है और was / were + V3 का सही प्रयोग कैसे किया जाता है।

1. Simple Past Tense क्या है?

Simple Past Tense का प्रयोग ऐसे कार्यों के लिए होता है जो भूतकाल में हुए और समाप्त हो गए।

Ram wrote a letter.

राम ने एक पत्र लिखा।

यहाँ wrote Verb की V2 form है और sentence Simple Past Tense में है।

उदाहरण

  • मैं बाजार गया।
  • उसने एक पत्र लिखा।
  • उन्होंने मैच जीता।
  • रीना ने खाना बनाया।

2. Simple Past Tense की पहचान

हिंदी में Simple Past के वाक्यों में अक्सर ने, या, ई, ए, आ आदि रूप दिखाई देते हैं।

किया • गया • लिखा • पढ़ा • खाया • देखा • बनाया

English में Positive Active sentence में Main Verb की V2 form आती है।

She wrote a letter.

They played cricket.

3. Simple Past – Active Voice Structure

Subject + V2 + Object

Ram wrote a letter.

Subject = Ram
Verb = wrote (V2)
Object = a letter

4. Simple Past – Passive Voice Structure

Object + was / were + V3 + by + Subject

Active: Ram wrote a letter.

Passive: A letter was written by Ram.

5. Simple Past Passive का Main Formula

OBJECT
+
WAS / WERE
+
V3
+
BY + SUBJECT

Golden Rule: Simple Past Passive में Helping Verb was / were और Main Verb की V3 form आती है।

6. was / were का प्रयोग

New Passive Subject Helping Verb
Singular Noun was
He was
She was
It was
Plural Noun were
We were
You were
They were

⚠️ Passive में Helping Verb पुराने Subject के अनुसार नहीं, बल्कि नए Passive Subject के अनुसार लगती है।

7. Step-by-Step Active → Passive Conversion

Example:

Active: Riya wrote a letter.

Step 1 – Subject पहचानें

Riya = Subject

Step 2 – Verb पहचानें

wrote = V2

Step 3 – Object पहचानें

a letter = Object

Step 4 – Object को आगे लाएँ

A letter ...

Step 5 – Tense पहचानें

wrote = Simple Past

Step 6 – Helping Verb लगाएँ

A letter was ...

Step 7 – Verb को V3 करें

write → wrote → written

Step 8 – by + Subject

by Riya

A letter was written by Riya.

8. Affirmative / Positive Sentences

Active: Subject + V2 + Object

Passive: Object + was/were + V3 + by + Subject

Active: She read a book.

Passive: A book was read by her.

9. V2 → V3 बदलना बहुत जरूरी है

Active Simple Past में V2 होती है, लेकिन Passive में हमेशा V3 का प्रयोग होता है।

V1 V2 V3
write wrote written
eat ate eaten
take took taken
give gave given
see saw seen
break broke broken
choose chose chosen
make made made
buy bought bought
catch caught caught

10. Negative Sentences

Simple Past Active Negative में did not + V1 आता है।

Example 1

Active: Ram did not write a letter.

Passive: A letter was not written by Ram.

Example 2

Passive: The room was not cleaned by them.

⚠️ Active Negative में did not के बाद V1 आता है, लेकिन Passive में was/were + not + V3 आता है।

Active: Did Ram write a letter?

Passive: Was a letter written by Ram?

Passive Pattern

Passive: When was the door opened by her?

Example 3

18. Future Tenses के Passive में अंतर

Tense Passive Structure Example
Future Simple will be + V3 A letter will be written.
Future Continuous will be being + V3 A letter will be being written.
Future Perfect will have been + V3 A letter will have been written.

19. Future Continuous Passive का Practical Usage

Future Continuous Passive grammatical रूप से सही हो सकता है, लेकिन इसका प्रयोग सामान्य conversation और modern English में काफी कम होता है।

इसका कारण है कि will be being + V3 संरचना बहुत भारी लगती है।

उदाहरण

The bridge will be being repaired next week.

यह grammatical construction है, लेकिन कई contexts में इसे अधिक natural तरीके से लिखा जा सकता है:

The bridge will be under repair next week.

🎯 Exam Tip: यदि परीक्षा में Active से Passive conversion पूछा जाए, तो Future Continuous का prescribed passive formula will be being + V3 याद रखें।

20. Future Continuous Passive की Common Mistakes

Subject + Verb + Indirect Object + Direct Object

Main Verb को V3 में बदलिए।

Tense के अनुसार Helping Verb लगाइए।

दूसरे Object को सही स्थान पर रखिए।

Two Object Sentences में Direct Object और Indirect Object दोनों की भूमिका महत्वपूर्ण होती है।

जैसे: She gave me a book.

इसका एक Passive: I was given a book by her.

और दूसरा: A book was given to me by her.

इसलिए Exam में Two-Object Sentence देखकर घबराने की आवश्यकता नहीं है। पहले दोनों Objects पहचानें और फिर Tense के अनुसार Passive Structure बनाएं।
